Valeria Marino
Since Valeria Marino was very young, she has been interested in sustainable development. She organized and participated in events that raised awareness about the issue in her home country of Peru. She also was part of a project that helped raise the level of education through continuous tutoring in her home country. As an international baccalaureate student, she focuses her volunteer work on informing disadvantaged communities about actions taken to support education and sustainability. When she moved to Canada in 2016, Marino went worked with organizations, such as Nature’s Ride and Natoura’s Journey, that promoted the relevance of environmental problems through information platforms that were customized to the age level.
Marino was accepted to study at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, where she is completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in finance. Throughout time at university, she has held various positions where she aimed to make each work environment more efficient and to provide students with better service. Her long-term goal has always been to introduce sustainability into her business studies, as it is evident to her that the bond between these two areas is getting stronger. Through her experiences with sustainable energy development, she seeks to determine the best way to partner business with sustainability at an undergraduate level to make this a more appealing academic pathway for future generations.
